Sexy Beast: A retired British gangster, living the life in Spain, is visited by a fierce gangster who desires him to work one more heist. This is a trendy, aggressive, current day gangster film that has excellent acting and contains a special performance by Kingsley as the malicious perpetrator. Cast includes Ray Winstune, Ben Kingsley, Ian McShane, Cavan Kendall, Julianne White, Alvaro Monje, and James Fox. (88 minutes, 2001)

The Search for One-Eyed Jimmy: The oddball tale of a documentary film maker, just out of college, who returns to his old Brooklyn community and finds cinematic encouragement as his camcorder follows the track of a missing local low life. Cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Steve Buscemi, Michael Badalucco, Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, Anne Meara, Jennifer Beals, Nicholas Turturro, Aida Turturro, Holt McCaIIany, Sam Rockwell, and Tony Sirico. (82 minutes, 1996)

Dusty: A discreet feeling little film in regards to a dingo (crazy mutt of the bush), seized when a puppy and ultimately brought up by an old gentleman (Kerr). Grownups can like it as much as kids. Cast includes John Richardson. Bill Kerr, Noel Trevarthen, Carol Bums, Nicholas Holland, John Stanton, and Kate Edwards. (88 minutes, 1982)

Repo Man: Immediate cult-film in regards to a new wave delinquent who takes a job recouping automobiles. This film mixes satire and science fiction with entertaining outcomes. Stanton is perfect as a repo guy who shows Estevez the business. Cast includes Emilio Estevez, Harry Dean Stanton, Vonetta McGee, Olivia Barash, Sy Richardson, Tracey Walter, Susan Bames, and Fox Harris. (92 minutes, 1984)

Lantana: An adult story of relations obstructed by monotony, routine, and absence of articulation. LaPaglia plays a cop, whose matrimony has stagnated, leading him to have an affair. In the mean time, he examines the disappearance of a lady whose own matrimony is in danger. The film is beautifully nuanced at every turn. Cast includes Anthony LaLaglia, Geoffrey Hurry, Barbara Hershey, Kerry Armstrong, Rachael Blake, Vince Colosimo, Daniela Farinacci, and Peter Phelps. (121 minutes, 2001)

No Man of Her Own: Turgid drama based on Cornell Woolrich story of Stanwyck presuming another's identity, later being blackmailed by ex-boyfriend. Cast includes Barbara Stanwyck, John Lund, Jane Cowl, Phyllis Thaxter, and Richard Denning. (98 minutes, 1950)

Shadowlands: A poignant, prudent, peacefully gratifying drama in regards to British author C. S. Lewis (Ackland), a verified bachelor, and how he is changed when he falls in love with American divorcee Bloom. Quality work is done by the megastars utilizing an outstanding award caliber script by William Nicholson. Cast includes Joss Ackland, Claire Bloom, David Waller, and Rupert Baderman. (90 minutes, 1985)

Prophecy: A classical musician and her physician spouse quarrel over what appears to be gigantic salami in upstate Maine after mercury turns animals into large mutants and worse. A ludicrous terror film that is excellent for a few chuckles. Cast includes Talia Shire, Robert Foxworth, Armand Assante, Richard Dysart, and Victoria Racimo. (95 minutes, 1979)

Eagle vs. Shark: A festivity of life's oddballs, as mousy Lily sets her sights on self-fashioned macho guy Jarrod (Clement), who lives only to get revenge on the classmate who used to beat him up in high school. Cast includes Loren Horsley, Jemaine Clement, Brian Sergent, Rachel Home, Craig Chamber, and Joel Tobeck. (87 minutes, 2007)
