If you wish you could one day become a top class volleyball or basketball player then you will need to find out how to acquire the necessary skills to out play and out leap other competitors. To begin you should identify how high you want to jump. The top athletes will take on the services of an experienced trainer that will coordinate the exercise programs as well as provide motivation. If you are also thinking about using a trainer, or perhaps a friend, then you will want to find a person that you trust and respect.

The exercises required in high jump training will work towards strengthening the muscles in your legs first and foremost but also they will help to enhance your overall coordination, balance, stamina, and posture. Exercises like leg presses and toe raises can be conducted daily to quickly develop your leaping ability. It is essential to warm up before any work out as otherwise you run the risk of pulling a muscle and being laid up for many weeks.

Another useful exercise is the jump squat. This involves leaping in the air from a squatting position. When doing any form of fitness regime it is essential that you have the right diet. There are supplements that can be taken that will quicken the time needed to develop muscle mass. Also make sure that you are keeping your body correctly hydrated.

Being able to leap high when sprinting is also a very important skill in volleyball and basketball. If your town or city has a venue with an athletics track then you can try out hurdles twice a week. By jumping when running at speed you will develop your leg and abdomen muscles as well as having a better balance when landing.

It is possible for any individual to acquire the skills necessary to become a first class volleyball or basket ball player.
