Nine Films To See

For years now, the video store was the way to get movies. High speed internet access has now made it possible to download movies right off a movie download site. Here are some examples of movies you can acquire through a movie download site.

I Walked with a Zombie: Nurse Dee comes to Caribbean island to treat zombie-like spouse of bothered Conway, finds skeletons in clan pantry, plus local witchcraft customs and fables that can't be disregarded. The movie is loosely adjusted from Jane Eyre. Cast includes Frances Dee, Tom Conway, James Ellison, Edith Barrett, Christine Gordon, Theresa Harris, and James Bell. (69 minutes, 1943)

Night of the Comet: Planet comes to an end, leaving only a few California valley gals behind! Clever satire, with brainy and sporadically chilling minutes, however plays all its cards too eventually. Cast includes Catherine Mary Stewart, Kelli Maroney, Robert Beltran, Geoffrey Lewis, Mary Woronov, Sharon Farrell, and Michael Bowen. (94 minutes, 1984)

The Informer: Un-contemporary although still strong research of human being nature informs of tough-drinking McLaglen, who notifies a friend to gather prize throughout Irish Revolt of 1922. Commanding tirade, based on Liam O'Flaherty's novel, with a memorable Max Steiner score. Cast includes Preston Foster, Margot Grahame, Wallace Ford, Joseph Sawyer, and Donald Softhearted. (91 minutes, 1935)

After Life: This is a beautifully informed story of caseworkers at a train station between the galaxies who help the lately departed pick a lone minute from their pasts to live inside for the remainder of forever. This is a calm, poetic assessment of life, mortality, and memory, filled with soft humor and blessedly free of some feel-excellent bromides. Cast includes Aarata, Erika Oda, Susuma Terajirna, Taketoshi Naito, Kyoko Kagawa, Kei Tani, Takashi Naito, and Yusuke lseya. (118 minutes, 1998)

Nothing To Lose: Nick Bearns is having a bad day. He just caught his wife in bed with his boss. Now he is being carjack while sitting at a stoplight. Angry and feeling he has nothing to lose, he turns the tables on the crook, and kidnaps him. Eventually these two misfits collaborate to get back at Nick's boss is this fun filled comedy.

Home of the Black Death: Wizard keeps individuals prisoner in a scary old home; dreadfully dragged out, grade-Z stuff. Cast includes Lon Chaney, Jr., John Carradine, Andrea Emperor, and Tom Drake. (80 minutes, 1965)

Littlest Rebel: One of Shirley's best films, a Civil Battle legend set in the Old South, with our heroine managing to wrap Union officer Holt around her little finger and guards her Confederate officer dad Boles. Church and Robinson do some admirable dancing also. Cast includes David Butler, Shirley Church, John Boles, Jack Holt, Karen Morley Bill Robinson, and Guinn "Large Boy" Williams. (73 minutes, 1935)

Soft Fruit: 4 grown kids-3 siblings and a sibling who's just gotten out of prison-return home to be with their mom, who's dying of liver cancer. Friendly enough mix of comedy and tirade in reference to an oddball clan doesn't count up to much. Cast includes Christina Andreef, Jeanie Drynan, Linal Haft, Russell Dykstra, Genevieve Lemon, Sacha Horler, and Alicia Talbot. (101 minutes, 2000)

Black Mama White Mama: Stereotyped, vicious girl rehash of the Defiant Ones, as blonde Markov and black Grier flee shackled together from a Filipino detention center camp. Haig is hammy in dude costume. Cast includes Pam Grier, Margaret Markov, Sid Haig, and Lynn Borden. (87 minutes, 1972)
