10 - Might & Magic 6: The Mandate of Heaven - Released in 1998, MM6 is considered one of the best of the Might and Magic series. It is credited with igniting the rebirth of CRPGs at the time of its release. It was also praised for its non-linear, user-friendly premise and an interactive, detailed game world.
9 - Planescape: Torment - The game was released in December 1999. It was considered by many video game journalists to be the best role-playing game of 1999. Planescape: Torment won multiple awards for RPG of the Year and Game of the Year.
8 - Baldur's Gate - Another game that is credited with helping the CRPG revival during its release. The game was a financial success and sold over 2 million copies. It received positive reviews from virtually every major gaming publication at the time of its release.
